I don’t know about you, but music affects me. It empowers me. It has the ability to bring me to my knees in tears, lift me up til I feel like Super Fucking Woman, the woman of the hour, hotter than I actually am, smaller than an ant, more fortunate than most, bullet proof, meek, blessed, filleted open for all to see…. oh and some music just makes me wanna shake what my momma gave me.
Anyway, here is a little sneak peek into my arsenal today…
Let’s kick it off with
#1 Anna Nalick- Breathe (2 am)
this song, the words, make me crazy. I can relate to every line of it until I feel like my heart’s been ripped from my body and spinning open for the world to do with as it will.
#2 Matchbox Twenty- Push
ahhh, Rob Thomas… you should have never left this band… but anyway…. PUSH… Sometimes, you need to have that faith that when someone is there, they are always there… no matter how much of your shit you have to load them down with sometimes, they won’t run…. they can take it. These people are rare… if you find one… don’t let them go.
#3 Counting Crows- Murder of One
If you’ve ever felt for a moment… that all your love was just a bottled up dream because you weren’t where you were supposed to be or doing what you were meant for… wasting away… God this song screams out. It demands answers… what the hell are you doing? Why are you standing in this place, still wasting away? Go. Do. Dream. BE.
#4 Jason Mraz- Absolutely Zero
Ah…. I don’t need to put words with this one. Listen. I cannot even begin to give this anything.
I will add to this post more later… I am wrapping up this work week and stepping out yo. Word to your mother. 😉
